Anna’s Words of Wisdom
My whole life, I knew that I wanted to work with animals. After college, I spent eight years as a veterinary technician before I decided I needed a change, and that’s when I found the job listing for the shelter manager at Chicago Canine Rescue.
I had no idea what I was getting into, but I’m so grateful that I made the choice I did. Managing an animal shelter is challenging, stressful and sometimes heartbreaking, but even on the hardest day, I never take it for granted.
Today, I am often struck by how lucky I am to be able to wake up every morning and help save animals’ lives. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a rescue dog move from the shelter to a loving, “forever” home.
