Back to School Means Back to Girl Scouting! Girl Scouts Launch “Press Play” Recruitment Campaign with Assist from CBD Marketing

CHICAGO (August 9, 2021) – As the school year approaches, the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI) is pulling out the stops to introduce girls in kindergarten through 3rd grade to the fun of Girl Scouting.  A new “Press Play” recruitment campaign, which runs August 8 through October 31, encourages sign-ups via an online form.

Colman Brohan & Davis, Inc. (CBD Marketing) is planning and executing the media buy. Ads are appearing on Facebook and Instagram in English and Spanish with creative provided by Girl Scouts of the USA.

“The last year has been a challenging one for families,” noted Julie Somogyi, Chief External Affairs Officer for GSGCNWI. “Girls, especially those in grades K-3, need to feel connected, joyful, and inspired in this time of trauma and uncertainty. That’s why we are excited to introduce families to Girl Scouting’s focus on social and emotional wellness through innovative programs and skill-building experiences. Thanks to our partners at CBD Marketing, that message will be delivered in the most creative, efficient and compelling way possible.”

GSGCNWI has worked with CBD Marketing before, most recently on the 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Program, which had to quickly transition to online selling tactics due to the myriad restrictions imposed by COVID-19. Digital ads on social media channels, created and placed by the agency, also played an important role in that campaign.
