CHICAGO (September 15, 2017) – CBD Marketing’s (CBD) new proprietary research on millennials’ preferences in the food, beverage and supplement categories is expected to be the highlight of a three-hour workshop on September 26 at the annual SupplySide West conference in Las Vegas.

The workshop is titled “How Millennials Are Transforming Modern Marketing.” CBD’s research—presented by Co-CEO Lori Colman and Senior Account Executive Sarah Flagg—represents the analysis of more than 12 million social media posts and other online commentary from a one-year period ending August 2017. The measured content is from millennials ages 18 to 35, separated by the topics of food, beverage and supplements. The study looks at what is being said, who is saying it, where, and what is “hot” and “not” in terms of product and purchase preferences and trends.

“Marketers are obsessed with millennials and with good reason,” said Colman. “They are one quarter of the population and represent $10 trillion in lifetime buying power. What’s important to remember is there are distinct age and demographic breaks within this technology-savvy group. Also, that they share their opinions and buying habits opening and frequently online.”

Colman cites the fact that people at the young end of the millennial spectrum are often still living at home or are in college. At the older end, they are working and starting families.

“Once a marketer has a sightline into these demographic and psychographic differences, they can be addressed with highly targeted social marketing, SEO/SEM and other paid and unpaid tactics. Having research tools of the type CBD utilizes creates the foundational knowledge that informs smart marketing decision-making,” Colman concludes.

The SupplySide West conference brings together more than 15,000 ingredient buyers and suppliers from the dietary supplement, beverage, functional food, personal care and sports nutrition industries. More than 1,200 companies exhibit; dates are September 25-29. To register, go to https://west.supplysideshow.com/en/home.html
