CBD's Plug and Axel characters for Boy Scouts of America debut at the Licensing Internation Expo

Monday, June 21st 2010

Two characters created by Colman Brohan Davis (CBD) exclusively for Boy Scouts of America had their debut June 8 at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas. The 30-year-old Expo is the largest global venue showcasing brands and properties available for licensing worldwide.

The two characters, named Plug and Axel, were created to appeal to today’s kids and communicate the positive attributes of a modern Boy Scout as well as traditional Boy Scout values: leadership, loyalty and helpfulness along with fun, adventure, service and friendship. The characters are available for merchandise across a wide range of product categories appropriate to the Boy Scouts of America brand and reflecting the interests and activities of kids and Scouts.

CBD’s Co-CEO Liz Brohan attended the Licensing International Expo to be present at the unveiling of the new characters. “The Expo was the perfect venue at which to introduce these two guys, who truly created some excitement at the Boy Scout booth,” she said.  “They delivered on the promise of being contemporary characters that would appeal to boys and parents. Plug is our hip little dude who’s wired and savvy about the interactive world. Axel is our adventurer who likes to take things apart and work with his hands.”

Plug and Axel will now be actively promoted by the Boy Scouts of America licensing team. At the Expo, which drew over 18,000 attendees, they were viewed by manufacturers, retailers, promotional agents, licensing agencies and distributors from 98 countries.
